So does JR get a welding helmet too?
Our car is starting to come back together, but there's still plenty to do.
The fender flanges are spot welded back onto the lower A-pillars.
We continued the metalwork on our BMW 2002tii by replacing the two fender flanges. These were BMW OE replacement parts that we sourced from Bavarian Autosport. It was pretty simple to grind off the old pieces and spot weld on the new ones.
With the flanges fixed, we could then turn our attention to the doors. We started by cleaning up the bottoms and fixing a few small holes, then moved on to filling up some trim holes along the bottom third. We used common nails as plugs for the holes and then ground off the nail shank—a simple solution that didn’t get too much heat into the door skin.
Next up: passenger-side door.
