Getting ready for Radwood | Project Porsche 911 Carrera

Photography by David S. Wallens

Our 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera has been accepted for Radwood at The Amelia, the most '80s-tastic event on the calendar.

So that means we need to get ready for the big day: March 5 in Amelia Island, Florida.

The car just went to Aero Dynamics in Daytona Beach, Florida, for its annual checkup: oil change, look-over and, if needed, a valve adjustment.

We didn't need a valve adjustment, and our mechanic has been happy with Liqui Moly 20W-50 Classic Motoroil in air-cooled Porsches–it costs less than $40 for a 5-liter jug.

Then there’s clean-up. We buffed the paint not too long ago, so this time we’ll hit it with Griot’s synthetic clay bar followed by its 3-in-1 ceramic wax. And we have something new planned for the rubber trim–more to come soon.

[How to quickly, easily detail your paint.]

But what to wear for the big day? And has anyone seen our Swatch lately?
