When it comes to air-cooled Porsches, what’s your favorite?

Have a favorite Porsche? Our local PCA chapter will celebrate it.

The group meets once a month in Orlando, with each get-together celebrating a different model or group of cars.

This month’s honored guest? Air-cooled Porsches.

Yes, we had to go.

The drill is simple: The featured cars get featured parking at Forward/Slash, the local distillery that serves as the group’s regular meeting place.

Once there, park, talk and, in our case, take pictures. Prizes are awarded to those deemed best in class.

Our 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera might not have been called to the podium, but we still won as we saw lots of cool cars and chatted with old friends.

Our favorite? Well, we are partial to a certain Ruby Red car….

There is something way cool about an early, narrow-body car.

I got see see a few 917s in person at the Simione Foundation Museum in Philadelphia and they are soooo much wider, lower, and longer than they ever seemed in pictures...easily my favorite.

In reply to Keith Tanner :

It would be cool if a 917 showed up at one of our local PCA meets.

One of our locals used to own the Fittipaldi/Pablo Escobar IROC car. He once drove it to a local PCA morning event, popped the doors/hood/trunk, and then walked away to grab breakfast.
