Much has been written about the legend of Shelby American, so to celebrate the firm’s 60th anniversary, Colin Comer and co-author Rick Kopec–both long-time experts on the marque–instead focused on the people and races that made those early years so magical.
The book starts with a blast of credibility, as the forward is written by Jim Farley, a Shelby and Cobra owner and racer as well as president and chief executive officer of the Ford Motor Company.
Most of the period images come from original team photographer Dave Friedman, who is outlined in Chapter 4. The book also details the contributions of other team members, like Peter Brock and Ken Miles.
If you want a book that outlines every little change made to every Cobra, this is not the one for you. But if you want an entertaining read that provides an in-depth perspective on the Shelby phenomenon and its place in today’s world, then we can highly recommend adding this to your library.
