For 70 years, the Corvette has adapted to the times, growing from a swoopy, jet-age special to a fully modern supercar that competes on the world’s stage.
“Corvette 70 Years” charts that story, starting with the big introduction: “With pageantry befitting a Hollywood premiere and all the showmanship of a Broadway production, the grand ballroom doors of Manhattan’s Waldorf Astoria Hotel swung open on January 17, 1953, to kick off General Motors’ 1953 Motorama.”
The Corvette hasn’t shied away from the limelight since, and all the steps are captured here, from speed runs on the sands of Daytona Beach to recent conquests at Le Mans.
And then there’s the most important battle: the one for customers. How did Chevrolet adapt to overseas competition and changing consumer tastes? Read on.
