Standing as the second of only five GT Roadsters built–and one of two surviving examples–this Ford GT40 Roadster became the only one of its kind to race at Le Mans.
Prepared for Le Mans by Shelby American and painted in Ford of France livery, this Ford GT Roadster competed in the 1965 24 Hours of Le Mans with French drivers Maurice Trintignant and Guy Ligier.
After the race, the Roadster received a rebuild work order and returned to Shelby American. Kar Kraft then used it as a development vehicle for the J-Car.
Finally, Dean Jeffries acquired the car, and it remained in his care until 2013.
This Roadster secured a second-place finish in the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans, second in class at the 2016 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and best of show at the 2016 Milwaukee Concours d’Elegance.
Find this iconic 1965 Ford GT/109 Competition Prototype Roadster for auction at Mecum on Saturday, May 17.
