A rare chance to own an iconic Tucker 48

Photography Courtesy Mecum Auctions

The opportunity to own a Tucker doesn’t come often–as just 51 were made–and only four were painted Black, the rarest production color.

Yes, the car has been repainted and reupholstered, but that was all for its appearance in 1988 film “Tucker: The Man and his Dream.”

This Tucker has had just three owners since new: California dealer Charles DeCosta (1949-1967), Tucker Automobile Club of America member Gene Clark (1967-2023) and senior director for the Tucker Automobile Club Mark Liebermann (2023-present).

Find this 1948 Tucker 48 up for auction at Mecum. As a point of reference, Hagerty currently values a Tucker 48 at $1.15 million-$2.1 million depending on condition.
