A rare pre-war race car with extensive racing history and an impressive record of drivers? Look no further than this Delahaye 135 S.

Delahaye only built 20 examples of the 135 S, with just two of those reserved for the factory works team. This example–chassis No. 47188–is the second of those two built.

The 135 S drove on some of the most iconic race tracks in history–Brooklands, Donington, Goodwood, Isle of Man and Le Mans, to name a few–racking up several podium finishes in the process.

Equally as impressive, the Delahaye was driven by the likes of Stirling Moss, Albert Divo, Arthur Dobson, Tony Rolt and Prince Bira–the last of which is one of just seven individuals to compete in both Formula 1 and the Olympic Games.

The Delahaye's most interesting caretaker, however, would have to be Rob Walker, heir to the Johnnie Walker whisky fortune. Walker purchased the car in the late 1930s, and would retain it until the end of the 1952 racing season.

Walker would end up purchasing the car again in 1970. Since then, the 135 S has remained in the car of the Walker family.

Also of note, the car atteneded the very first Goodwood Members’ Meeting in 1949 and took part in a 2015 Johnnie Walker advertisement in which it was driven by actor Jude Law.

Today, the Delahaye is a shoo-in for numerous events including the Goodwood Revival and Members’ Meeting, Mille Miglia Storica and even the Le Mans Classic.

Find this 1936 Delahaye 135 S Works up for auction from RM Sothebys on November 1-2 with an estimated value of $1.3-$1.95 million.
