Reshaping performance cars with custom wide bodies is nothing new. Just look to this unique Ferrari 512 BB.
Apparently not fully satisfied, the first and only owner of this Ferrari brought it back to the dealer, Maranello Concessionaires, to have several unique modifications made to the car.
The front and rear aluminum clamshells were reworked with larger arches, allowing the replacement of the 512’s original 7.5J front and 9J rear wheels with wider 9J front and 11J rear wheels. Likewise, the area between the B- and C-pillars were reshaped and fitted with deeper NACA ducts.
Other cosmetic modifications include the repositioning of the side lights into the front grille and the fitting of a Competizione-style wing. As for the transparent covers, those allow a clearer view of the aftermarket intakes for the re-jetted Weber carbs. As an added bonus, the Ferrari was also upgraded with a twin-pipe exhaust.
Whether or not the owner was truly inspired by the famed 512 BB Competizione racers that campaigned at Le Mans, as the seller suggests, what is impressive is that this Ferrari has covered less than 6000 miles since new–all the while maintained by dealer it was sold new at, Maranello Concessionaires.
Find this 1977 Ferrari 512 BB 'Wide Body' for auction from H&H Classics with an estimated value of £150,000-£170,000, or approximately $184,913-$209,577 USD.
