What kind of Ferrari 250 GT gets to be displayed in the Pininfarina booth at the 1962 New York International Auto Show? One that’s clad in the unique shade of Blu Tigullio.

Famed U.S. Ferrari importer Luigi Chinetti ordered the car in this color because his customer requested it. Oddly enough, after the show closed, that customer did not take delivery of the car. Instead, another customer bought it–and subsequently repainted it in the more customary Ferrari color of red.

After Klaus Troche bought the Ferrari in 2000, he spent a good sum of money returning it to its original spec. Then, in 2019, he was involved in an accident with the car after suffering a heart attack. He died a few days later. When Franck Troche inherited it, he sent it to Carrozzeria Quality Cars and had it completely restored, returning the Ferrari back to Blu Tigullio. The work won the prize for best restoration at the 2023 Cavallino Classic in Modena.
