As impressive as the Honda S2000’s ability to rev past 8000 rpm was in 1999, just imagine how wild that sort of redline was for a road-going car in the late 1960s.
Although rated at just 70 horsepower, the S800’s 791cc engine features an indicated redline of 8500 rpm and only needs to motivate less than 1800 pounds of car.
This particular example, a later MK2 model (also known as the S800M) was sold new in the United Kingdom in June of 1969.
The little Honda is noted to have been “regularly maintained,” according to the listing, adding that the car was “refinished some years ago to an excellent standard.”
