Ever see an Isdera Imperator 108i?

It looks a little like a Mercedes-Benz, right? Well, there is some related history.

Even though he never worked for the brand, Porsche employee Eberhard Schulz set out to design a Gullwing for the ’70s. He called his prototype the CW311, even showing it with a three-pointed star on the nose.

Fast forward a few years, and he put it into production himself as the Isdera Imperator 108i. Only 30 units are said to have been built during the 1984-’93 production run.

This one was originally delivered in Japan with a left-hand-drive configuration. At last report, it’s covered not quite 1200 miles.

Look for this 1991 Isdera Imperator 108i Series 2 at RM Sotheby’s upcoming Monterey sale. The estimate? How about $800,000 to an even million.
