What’s more momentous than celebrating one 50th anniversary? Celebrating two at the same time–which is pretty much what the striking Nissan GT-R50 was designed to do.
As a way to celebrate the 50th anniversary of both Nissan and Italdesign, the two companies came together–for the first time in history–to design a celebratory concept based on the R35-chassis Nissan GT-R.
Unveiled in 2018, the concept generated enough interest that plans to produce a limited run of 50 were put into motion. Due largely in part to COVID-19, however, only 18 examples were ever produced, each one carrying a base price of over €900,000, or approximately $933,000. (In comparison, the mainstream GT-R at the time carried a starting MSRP of $175,490.)
In addition to a specially tuned VR38DETT twin-turbo V6 engine rated at 720 horsepower (some 120 horsepower more than the “standard” GT-R of the time), the Nissan also features several GT-R50-specific components that include specially-tuned Bilstein dampers, exclusive 21-inch wheels and reinforced engine plus drivetrain components.
As for this particular GT-R50, it currently shows just 213 kilometers–or about 132 miles–from new.
