In 1959, Porsche built just 14 examples of the Porsche 356A 1600 GS/GT Carrera Speedster. But that’s not what makes this particular car truly unique. It’s clad in Rosso Chiaro, yes, the same color used on Ferraris. Let us explain.

Fred Leydorf, who served as the Ferrari Club of America president, acquired the car in 1983 and referred to it as “the eternal project.” Eventually, he had it restored, including its paint (the same Rosso Chiaro as his Ferrari 375 MM) and sourcing a period-correct engine.

His effort seemed to pay off. The Speedster won First in Class at the 2017 Cincinnati Concours d’Elegance and the Howard Rapp award for Best Porsche.
