Although the Chevy Corvair gets a lot of attention for being one of the first cars fitted with a turbocharger from the factory, there was also this car, the Oldsmobile Jetfire.

Based on the Cutlass, the Jetfire took the Oldsmobile 215-cubic-inch V8 engine and slapped on a Garrett turbocharger. In order to mitigate knocking, the car needed to run a 50/50 mix of methanol and water.

This 1962 Jetfire–one of only 3765 made–is billed as having received a three-year, frame-up restoration. Currently, the car shows 75,055 miles and is noted to have appeared in MotorTrend and Muscle Car magazines.

Find this 1962 Oldsmobile Jetfire for sale from Napoli Classics for $45,000.

An era when they gave cars exciting names. Jetfire. It sounds like a super hero.
