Many consider the Aston Martin 2-Litre Sports to be the “DB1,” as it was the first car the company developed under David Brown’s leadership. Aston Martin only made 15 examples of the 2-Litre Sports, with this one being chassis number 8.
The car does not appear as it did when it originally came from the factory, however, as it was rebodied during the late 1950s by the Swallow Coachbuilding Company. Later, in the 1970s, Aston Martin engineer and racer Shaun Magee fitted in a 2.6-liter DOHC straight-six engine, among many other changes.
The seller calls this “an incredibly exciting restoration project and once completed, has the potential to be an interesting entry into numerous of the motoring world’s most prestigious events.”
Find this 1949 Aston Martin 2/2.6-Litre Sports “DB1” up for auction at H&H Classics, with an estimated winning bid of £100,000-€140,000 (approximately $125,550-$175,770 USD).
