Yes, an early 911S with the optional blue leatherette seats, a sunroof delete and still retaining its numbers-matching engine and gearbox is desirable enough on its own, but it’s the story attached to this Porsche that makes it truly special.
Until 2010, this 911 was owned from new (from Brumos Porsche, no less) by Cuban-born racer Diego Febles, better known as “El Maestro.”
Febles, who originally fled from Cuba in 1957 and eventually settled in Puerto Rico, would go on to garner a racing career spanning some six decades.
Among the many accolades he accrued, Febles had competed several times in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, 24 Hours of Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring, as well as winning the Florida Region SCCA B-Sedan Championship in 1967 and 100 Miles of Lime Rock in 1978.
In 2016, the Porsche underwent a rotisserie restoration at a cost of over $124,000. Later, in 2021, the car received a major service at Beverly Hills Porsche that cost some $15,000.
In addition to a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, the 911S comes with the original owner’s manuals and tool kit.
