Before the Tiptronic, before the PDK, Porsche offered a semi-automatic transmission called the Sportomatic. It was, essentially, a manual transmission fitted with a vacuum-operated clutch.
That’s what makes this Porsche 911S a little extra unique: Besides being an early, soft-window Targa, it comes equipped with the four-speed Sportomatic transmission.
Reported to have received a “multi-year $250k restoration” after it was imported into the United States, the 911S has also spent time on display at the Petersen Automotive Museum.
