Sure, there are just around 50 left-hand-drive examples of the Bentley S2 Continental ‘Flying Spur’ with coachwork by H.J. Mulliner. But how many of those were ordered new by a three-time Academy Award winner? This one was built for one of the greatest legends on the screen, Gary Cooper.
Cooper ordered the car in Pacific Green over Beige leather, with air conditioning, a rear window blind, and a speedometer that read in km/h. Unfortunately, Cooper never took possession of it.
The Bentley is now in Dark Oriole, a shade of green that appears nearly black to the naked eye. It also comes with an invitation to join the exclusive Automobile Club de Monaco, the organizers of the Monaco Grand Prix and host to many F1 drivers.
Find this 1961 Bentley S2 Continental “Flying Spur” Saloon by H.J. Mulliner for auction at RM Sotheby’s, with an estimated value of €100,000-€150,000 (approximately $110,000-$165,000 USD).
