The most expensive Maserati road car built at the time

What made this bespoke Maserati so expensive at the time? American racer Richard Cicurel wanted several special features added so that he could compete with the car in rally racing.

What were some of those unique options? “Marchal fog lamps, special backup lights, competition differential, large fuel tank with quick-fill cap, Halda Speedpilot, a folding armrest and map light for the navigator, Becker Europa multi-band radio, extra instruments and even a Jaeger-LeCoultre chronograph (supplied by Circurel from a Bugatti he owned).”

After passing through the hands of several owners, it’s been restored to its original configuration, just as Cicurel would have wanted it and presented in the livery that it used to grace Maserati advertising and brochures.

Find this 1956 Maserati A6G/2000 Coupe up for auction at Bonhams, with an estimated value of $890,000-$990,000.

I just really like the two-tone paint. Everything else is bonus in my book.
