They didn’t make many examples of the Aston Martin Vantage V550 – just 239. Of them, just one, this one, came in McLaren Carbon Metallic. It’s the same color of the first owner’s McLaren F1.
That first owner, James Munroe, had two McLaren F1s, a roadgoing version and a GTR. He had street version repainted from Mercedes Silver to the McLaren Carbon Metallic. After appearing on the BBC show “The Car’s The Star” to talk about his McLaren F1s, questions arose about his source of wealth. It came out that he defrauded his American employers of £2.9 million (nearly $4 million) between 1995 and 1999. After his assets were seized, this car sold in 2000 for £175,000 (nearly $240,000).
Its third owner was the former CEO of Guinness, the late Colin Storm, who acquired it in 2003. Since then, it’s had regular service, including an engine overhaul that bumped its horsepower to 575-plus horsepower.
Find this 1997 Aston Martin Vantage V550 for auction at H&H Classics, with an estimated value of £140,000-£170,000 (approximately $190,000-$230,000 USD).
