There have been just 92 editions of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and thus only 92 overall winners. This 1965 Ferrari 250 LM is one of that select few. Masten Gregory, Ed Hugus and Jochen Rindt drove it to victory while racing for the legendary North American Racing Team (NART).
It is the only Ferrari built during the Enzo Ferrari era (1947-1988) to compete in six 24-hour races: three times at Le Mans and three times at Daytona.
After its racing days drew to a close in 1970, Chinetti Motors purchased the Ferrari and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum became its home for the past 54 years.
Rocking a matching-numbers engine and gearbox, this Ferrari is further accompanied by with copies of 1965, 1968, and 1969 Le Mans papers, copies of paperwork from Luigi Chinetti’s ownership, 1970 purchase paperwork, maintenance invoices and history report by Marcel Massini.

Probably one of the most expensive ways to boast your ego !
For that sort of money one could buy 26+ desireable supercars that can actually driven and savoured on the road every day instead of staring at it IMHO

Valid point. I guess it really comes down to what someone would want more: A thrilling collection of high-performance cars or a single car that won one of the world's most prestigious races.
I guess all I can do is cross my fingers and hope its new owner at least takes it out every once in a while at events like the Rolex Reunion.
I wonder if the Simione Museum will pick it up, since their collection includes several Le Mans winners. Certainly would be a feather in their hat to have this car as well. Just a provocative thought
