This Ulster is the first “client racing car” built by Aston Martin

Aston Martin built this Ulster Competition Client specifically for a customer, a company first. It’s also the first of 21 Ulster Competition Clients, and is considered to be the prototype among them.

Intended for Le Mans, the Aston Martin features a number of lightweight parts throughout, including an engine fitted with lightweight components and a drilled chassis–both of which are noted to be number-matching.

This Ulster carries an interesting history, where the engine and chassis became separated. They were reunited when an owner discovered both in his collection, albeit separated among two cars.

Find this 1934 Aston Martin Ulster up for auction at Artcurial, with an estimated winning bid of €1,100,000-€1,300,000 (approximately $1,199,770-$1,417,910).
