Before I go any further... we debated not even posting this yet. After all, October is a long ways away, and things will continue to change all the way up to the day of the event.
One thing to clarify: Unless things change drastically, we will hold the $2000 Challenge.
However, we're big believers in being honest to a fault, so here's a link showing how COVID-19 will affect the event. We'll keep that page updated as new information comes in, too. Sorry for not copying/pasting here, but I'm trying hard not to duplicate information I know will be need to be updated.
https://2000challenge.com/covid19-policies
Hopefully by the time October rolls around, this will just be a strange memory and the event will be held without changes. But I'm not seeing any data to support that at this point.
Feel free to discuss, and I'll answer questions as well as I can.
Thanks.
"Teams are encouraged to limit inter-team interactions as much as possible."
That one might need a little clarification. I understand you can't do that yet. (Although it would be helpful to know a little before registering).
No official things in the hotel parking lot... does that eliminate the parking lot build (or the trophy for it)?
Does this mean I need to make individual bars for everyone?
Quick note on gloves...
The SCCA's guideline is really vague on this. Wearing gloves does not stop cross contamination. CHANGING gloves after each contact does. Like medical personnel... they change gloves after each patient. Not at the end of the day. (This is tough to do)
Also... pens. Touchless systems are possible (like requiring pre-registration online)
Just a couple thoughts. I know this is evolving....
Thanks for your efforts.

We're going to refrain from clarifying the inter-team interactions part right now. It likely won't be anything official, just a "hey try not to hold hands with Stampie all weekend."
The parking lot build is a normal entry run by a single team, and we encourage all teams to limit inter-team interactions. The parking lot is outside of our influence.

Yes, expect gloves in a limited capacity by trained staff. The person who checks your wristbands at the gate with a waiver will probably have them. Competitors probably won't.
We haven't completely outlined a registration overhaul yet, but expect one. We're going to streamline that process as much as possible.

As long as there's one for me! Figuring out how to stop a global pandemic with nothing but a Squarespace website and a bunch of $2000 cars is exhausting.
In reply to Tom Suddard :
Damn. Holding hands with Stampie was my favorite part!

In the past, "some people" have been more comfortable wearing gloves just watching you and stampie hold hands.
In reply to Tom Suddard :
BTW, this is worth a conversation with the host hotel early (to help you anticipate and communicate the guidelines).
I've been staying in a hotel since COVID started. IT SUCKS. No breakfast, no food service, no room cleaning during stay, no workout room, pool area off limits, all evening socials cancelled.
A lot can change between now and then, but if hotel guidelines then are anything like they are now, it's gonna impact the experience a lot. No breakfast, no restaurant, who knows what they would say about the banquet, and they problem wouldn't even be too happy about parking lot or pool socializing.
Just a thought...
In reply to Robbie (Forum Supporter) :
Wait till you see how disturbing he and I can get dressed entirely head to toe in latex.
You might have to go wash just thinking about it.
In reply to mazdeuce - Seth :
We could limit inter team interaction to just hugging! Or, and I know SVreX will like this one, full body latex hugs with full scrub down with sanitizer between hugs.

I can't say anything for anyone else- but we managed to run a taco stand on a couple of grills and some loosely coordinated texts once... probably do it again. You know- unofficially.

I'm claiming film distribution rights for this one. There's gotta be a market.

Thinking it might be a good thing I got the Challenge crossed off my bucket list last year, This year sounds potentially terrifying!
In reply to Stampie (FS) :
Oooh! Full body sanitizer!
I think we should have a $1200 stimulus class instead of the half budget class.
In reply to Andy Neuman :
How about a $400 Kid Bonus Class for us really cheap bastards?
What if we hang a sheet of plastic, kind of like a 2d paint booth, and we can hug through that?
In reply to mazdeuce - Seth :
Is clothing optional in this?
In reply to Tom Suddard :
Thanks Tom, this will make it much easier for everyone to plan for event.
Do you know what the current host hotel occupancy status is? For example, with the current guidelines/rules will we be able to split a room with someone like in the past?
In reply to Pete Gossett (Forum Supporter) :
I'm not aware of any hotels regulating room occupancy.
Considering their popularity as meeting places for illicit rendezvous, it would be pretty hard for them to regulate room occupancy. They are not interested in policing people. They just want to protect themselves from potential liability.
Crap. I just registered as a spectator like a week ago. Guess I need to give y'all a call and sort out a refund...
I was really looking forward to the opportunity to hold hands with Stampie. Even if gloves were required.

No hugging. Dammit.
For the record I am always open for hugging. Just be aware in a serial hugger so I will have other hugger cooties
