So somehow my buddy who was looking for an engine for a Bobcat ( not a mercury but one of those little bulldozer type things) found an engine he thought would work on ebay. Here is the ebay ad http://www.ebay.com/itm/330645835133?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
Item number: 330645835133 if that link isn't working
Anyhow, he had me buy it for him and paid $375 to ship it to his shop in VT and then found out that it was not the engine he needed, nor can he adapt it. So now he is hoping to recoup some of his loss, so I figured maybe someone on here might have a use for an engine like this.
he is asking $1000 but is pretty negotiable at this point ( also very embarrassed he goofed up)
If your intersted, email me at outsidegroove at gmail.com or text me at 802-324-0352 and I will put you in contact with him.
Perhaps it came in a new crate?
May I suggest he try a 2.0 Mitsubishi motor like those thangs are supposed to use?
... Unless it runs on gas... Meh
The pic is not of the engine. I have some on my phone I could text to anyone interested. The pic was just a stock photo the place used.
Here are some pics of the actual engine from a couple days ago.
Rebuilding the head and painting the valve cover a pretty shade of blue does not constitute as a crate engine.
I don't doubt that it's a crate motor .. that looks like the usual surface rust an engine would get from 20 years of being schlepped around warehouses in leaky wooden crates.
never been a fan of dissimilar metal engines.
Still could be a decent buy for someone wanting to power a lowcost or the like with a decent-ish motor
I thought it would be great for someone doing one of those MG Kit cars that call for a small 4cyl. or if someone was doing up an EXP, they had the same motor I think.
I dunno. Just trying to help a friend. Some of you guys seem to think crapping on someone's thread for sport is a hobby though. To those that are serious , thanks for your help.

The early non-turbos used this engine. Pre '86.
deleted; I was saying I thought it may work in Miata but I think that's incorrect (I think the 1.8 Escort engine will be dunno about 1.6).
It the early 1.6L CVH motor as installed in the first gen Escorts starting in 1981 until the late 80's when Ford went to the 1.9L in all Escorts.

The first year for the 1.9 in the Escort and EXP was 1986.
