Since there have been a few requests, here are some pics of the interior and engine. It had a rod knocking, BTW.

$1335 for a brand new block from ford http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=12142
Good luck with the sale!
I finally got a uShip quote under $800 (but not by much) so still a no-go for me.
:)
Also, apparently the early Ford HSC engine from the Escort & Tempo is also a candidate for a swap with less trouble than the Zetec, since they used them in the Mk2 Fiesta (Needs confirmation)
The biggest hurdle/reason for cutting the front frame is when you convert to 5-speed. (Again, needs confirmation)

I don't think they ever used the HSC in Europe, but they did use the CVH which is in the North American 1st gen Escort and is the SPI in the Focus. It's the next evolutionary step from the Kent/Crossflow. I'd rather rebuild the Kent than put a HSC in there.

Yes the CVH 1.6 & 1.9L engines will bolt right up to the transaxle. If you go 5 sp the drivers side unibody does need to be notched and then reinforced. Not that hard if you have a MIG welder. Tempo knuckles and hubs will work and give you bigger brakes and stronger hubs. I know a guy out of Det. area that raced one in SCCA GTL and has helped out a Lemons team that runs two of them. I also owned 3 of these cars and would have this car in my collection if I had room for a collection, which I don't.
Wow. Who'd have thought that Tempo parts would ever be an upgrade for anything, much less something really cool.
