I normally don't link to e-Bay stuff, but here's an engine-less Lotus Elan Plus 2, currently at $200 with No Reserve.
Not mine, etc...

You know you want a Lotus, Woody. You know you're going to get one. Stop messing around and pull the trigger on one. Everyone needs more garage art.
In reply to Woody:
Needs more SR20DET or ZETEC.
I have seen one of those with a zetec before, its a perfect example of a good modern engine swap into an old car.
What an absolutely horrible ad. I didn't know what the car looked like before and after viewing the ad I still don't.

There's no secret here. I'm just waiting for an early Elan.
(Plus 2 = Yuck).
"They say" the ZETEC swaps in place of the TC aren't too bad to do. The bell housings either bolt up or almost do and just require some small mods, I forget. Remember that was a Ford Kent block in there originally.
Done well, that would be one of the most killer challenge cars of all time.
In this case, +2 could mean that some of the taller participants could actually drive it.
(ztec is a replacement/derivative of a CVH (2.0-1.9-1.6 back in time) which was a replacement of the kent. So the swap totally makes sense.)

I've had a zetec mounted to a '72 2.0 pinto FOG (Type E, 4 speed version of the Type 9) transmission. The dowel diameters need to be adjusted, the hole for the pilot bearing needs to be finished/honed, and the starter will leave a open spot on the zetec block since it mounts to the bellhousing. I havent figured out the flywheel clutch yet...but none of it is particularly difficult. I bet you could drill the top two bolt holes in the zetec block to match the 2.3 Lima pattern...
