NMNA, but the want is there. This is cheap enough to treat it as a disposable semi-exotic. Search Lexington KY for "W8" and you'll see it.
Challenge money for this thing......sigh.

<===== Thinks to himself "hmmmm that's not all that FAR from Indy......" Then remembers SWMBO would kill him.
A W8 does not make a Passat semi-exotic. It's not even very fast - a Q45 or LS400 would outrun it down the 1/4 mile.

Those two would never beat it to the bottom of your wallet though! I seem to recall that once the timing chain guides get worn you might as well scrap the car if you're not buying an OEM shortblock; NLA
No. Just no. There's not even much there that's useful to resell on the secondary market, except to other poor bastards who were dumb enough to get sucked into that swirling vortex of mediocrity and second-hand VAG failure.

Well yes, duh. A W8 Passat weighs what, 4500lbs? Odds are you'd have to get out and push it for part/all of that 1/4 mile, so it'd take a hell of a lot more than 15 seconds.
Oooo, run away from that bad boy as quick as you can. Doubt me, check out past posts from Humblemechanic.com on that car.
After careful consideration I thought, hmm, wonder what the tires are worth compared to the car, I know a good autoelectrical shop in Lexington. Then I saw the price, game over!

A W8 is the same chassis/brakes as a contemporary Audi S4 but with more power and less ostentatiousness. It's the performance B5 for the man who wants to enjoy driving instead of who wants to be seen in something.
I really didn't need to see this come up for sale
Price has been amended to $3000.

I don't know much about VAG cars, but from what I see the 2003 Audi S4 had 339 hp and the 2003 Passat W8 has 270hp. In addition to the 69 hp less power the Passat is 200lbs heavier. Am I missing something??
In reply to dculberson:
You're looking at the V8 model which was a B6, which wasn't the B5 Passat's contemporary. (VW made no cars on the B6 chassis, they held on to the B5 a little while longer then made the Passat on its own specific transverse chassis)
The B5 S4, which was the chassis twin to the W8 was a 250hp twin turbo V6.
