It's pretty rusty, but it runs and drives.
292 Y-block V8 with 3 on the tree.
Should be a fun rat rod.

It is a short wheelbase.
Yup. lots of rust. At least the hood and grill are still there (at least most of it). The roof rusted and blew off. Possible soft top conversion to come!

That's a new one on me.
I've seen (and driven) a couple vehicles where I expected this to happen but it never did. My Dads 76 Malibu had holes big enough o put your hand through around the back window from the Landau top. He wouldnt drive with the windows down for fear the back window would blow out.
Looks like a fun truck project. Rusty enough you wont feel bad about doing something crazy with it.

WOW!
Can we get some pics from under the tarp. I'd like to see that.
You can kind of see it in this picture. All that's there of the roof is the center brace and the cardboard headliner.
Keg in the bed is the gas tank.
It would look kinda cool as a roadster. Just cut around that body line from the doors and under the back window.
I've worked on plenty of Y-blocks.
They have solid lifters, that's about the only good thing about them.
They don't make much power but they're reliable.
I've heard of guys doing chops on old trucks without changing the glass. Specifically, old Fords, and Willys. You just reduce the bulge above the rain gutters. It looks like you might have just enough metal left to flatten everything at the gutters, and put a flat (or, better yet, bead rolled) piece of flat metal over the whole mess, and trim until lts neat. Just an idea.
Best example I could find quickly.
