Well I guess winter is here in NC now, thought it might stay in the 70's all winter but now it's turned cold so was time for some shop heat!
Now that that's taken care of I can get back to the car!
Made and tacked up motor mounts today. Tube has urethane bushings I repurposed from roller skate take offs
It fits good now on to the trans mount!
Ok motor mounts and trans mounts are tacked in. Been working on the turbo manifold, I cut up a factory Ford Focus one from the junk yard and came up with this.
I have a flexible joint coming that will be welded In-between it and the turbo which is going to be mounted to the frame rail.
Now on to cooling
eBay ford/mopar radiator is a little big I will have to notch my front suspension mount I made to drop it an inch or so but still think I will lose the hood latch and have to go with hood pins.
Dodge truck intercooler I have fits great but not sure if it's overkill, What do you guys think?
I don't have any real input on intercooler/ turbo sizing/etc. You've got it, might as well use it, right? Cool solution mounting the turbo to the frame rail with the flex joint.
What are we looking at with that primered piece-stock valence?
Things are looking good!
I'm moving along with what I have being the budget is tight and this thing just fits so good!
Yep that red piece is the stock valance, the stock bumper would normally cover that large hole where the intercooler is but being I want the airflow I will more than likely build a tube bumper to fit
I mean I will have to mod a few little things but the lights and grill will go back in and kind of hide everything well, I betting once it's all painted black most people won't know that's a big ass intercooler behind there!
I did start piecing the intake manifold together, I need to order some injector bungs next
The focus exhaust mani looks like a good fit. I'm trying the SR20DET mani.
Cool build!!
Plugging along, little video update

well I moving along with my build, mosquito season is back so I'm down to just a little time at night and on weekends when I'm not exhuasted. Here is my latest update

Glad to have you back.
And we don't have any mosquito in albemarle yet, thank god.
No bloodsuckers here yet either. (Columbia, SC). There will be plenty very soon though. Cool project!
Well y'all ain't much happened in the shop on the tercel, I been killing mosquitos 14hrs a day and welding odd stuff with a buddy when I have time, to make money to get back on the tercel.
I did find a gem the other day while driving around for work though that I couldn't pass up!
1982 starlet
Thought of keeping it but decided I could use the money on the tercel
So I sold it to a dude up north who says he is going to restore it for his dad.
Now with that fresh cash in my pocket let's order some parts!
But let's look at craigslist first cause I could kind of use a truck to use with my welding work...nothing I can really afford that will be big enough and get good enough mpg
Wait I found something!
Behold
So I picked up this 1983 Toyota Dolphin motorhome that we nicknamed Walter White.
I been ripping him apart cleaning him up and getting him ready for his makeover.
Poor fellow has been neglected
But looks like he will clean up ok!
The plan is a rack over the cab that is big enough to set a tent up on, 10ft x 80" flat bed with about a 30" dovetail and ramps so I can haul the tercel!
I been working on this thing till about midnight ever night after work and hope to have it functional before this weekend! I will post updated photos as soon as it's ready!
Oh and I traded the old ae86 I had for this
Little something to keep me happy so I don't have to rush the tercel :)
