This just gave me the filthy thought to put an RX-7 motor in a Mustang... hmm former four-cylinder Fox... yes...
The cage has been started with the help from the fine folks at Trigonia. Aka Dale and eventually cruisermatt whenever he decides to show up lol
We are making this 12 point cage intended for a foxbody hatch work on this new edge and should have a nice 10 point with left over material for a parachute mount.
Got the motor and transmission pulled. Also pulled all of the factory harness out. The cage is just about done thanks to cruisermatt and dale. Now its time to swap in the tubular k member, get the bay cleaned up and firewall patched and then we can start going together.

I asked for help with the cage Lol. Im building the motor as we speak.
Fuel tank is installed! Used a few peices of scrap angle iron. Cut out the spare tire are and factory tank straps and mounts to off set the weight. Also have a thin peice of aluminum the will cover everything except the cap so nothing will fly into the car.
Today was a great day and we wrapped up the cage! Modified the dash and reinstalled it. Put in some effort to make the cage fit the best we could considering it was for a foxobody, and have some material left over to make the parachute mount.
We used the factory mustang seat rail and a the free 0 dollar seat that came from a scrapped ford focus to make the drivers seat.
I started to lay down some of the massey furgeson gray tractor paint. You can see the major difference in color in the engine bay. Very excited to start putting it back together.
Removed the stock kmember today. Learned that both struts are blown lol. But took the time to finish painting the engine back minus a spot i missed.
Also still amazes me that you save 35 pounds between k members.
Did you start buying spare motors for this yet?

Lol nope. I have 1 motor and thats gonna have to do it.
Finally located a cheap solution for the front suspension. Traded the steering column and keys for front struts and picked up a coil over kit for 50 bucks. Now the front end can get finished and set back on the ground this weekend.
Back on the ground and ready for the drivetrain!
Then ill fit the fenders and bumper.
Bottom end is done. Going to try my luck with a stock unmodified truck oil pan. Tomorrow the heads and valve train go on and the i can mate the motor and trans for install.
Todays score. 100bucks for a bin full of fittings. There wound up being 157 peices. So they are 63 cents a peice. Fixes my fuel system conundrum.
Engine is assembled. Short of the driver side valve cover and motor mounts. All on the work bench, but i called it a night. Will try and get the notor and trans in the car tomorrow. Motor will go in no issue, curious as to where the trans will land.
This motor was so disgusting. You can catch a glimpse of it below on the close up pic of the ls6 valve springs installed.
Looks amazing. The dirty valve covers is to the secret to them not blowing up
you actually use those smaller head bolts by the valley cover?!

Dirty valve covers didn't work too well for him last year.

i thought about doing purple accents again. i have so many of these metallic purple spray paint cans lol
