Ha! Love it.

Ha, thanks!
Started building a couple of side scoops. Split a piece of 3" exhaust tubing and went from there.
The back half will quick release for engine compartment access
Rear section is still rough
I blocked off the gap along the top of the radiator to prevent hot engine air from getting drawn into the front side of the radiator. Along with the side scoop and swapping the 190 degree thermostat for a 160 my highway operating temp has gone down from 210 to 175.

Thanks so much!
Got started on the Engine Cover/Hood today. The plan is to make it look very similar to the roof on the cab

I have been videoing the process. I will post it once the hood is mostly done.
Did some more work on it this morning. Still need to weld in the corner patches, the underside and smooth.
Made some more progress on the hood today. Got both of the rear corners welded in, just need smoothing.
Wow! I just found this thread. I am not really much of a old school VW fan but this thing is wicked awesome. I'll be following the rest of this build for sure. Good job Ben.

Great, glad you like it.
Wheeled the other end cap today
Hood is nearly done. Still need to run thru the english wheel to smooth and crown
Found these intricate bmw hood hinges at the self serve salvage yard for $5
Setting up the hinges. This should allow the hood to hinge at the front and open fully without hitting the back of the cab
brad131a4 wrote: Sweet!! got to love repurposing good designed parts from other makes to accomplice things you need.
Absolutely!
Todays progress.....Completely installed the hood hinges and fabricated a framework to sandwich between the hinges and hood for strength.
