I am not turning the boost up. It's already a real handful. I also would like very much to not shorten any rods.

So this car is small, powerful, and very squirrely.

I name cars. I'm going to call this car Grace.

Sorry, Evan.

Wow, in those still shots, it almost looks like I know what I'm doing in this thing.

Which I totally don't.

So no work has been done on the Miata other than to tuck it in the garage. I did trade my GTI for a 97 Miata to use as a winter beater so I will post some of that progress here.

It has over 200k miles, burns oil and has rust. Other than that it is pretty nice.

It has some Koni shocks and unknown springs which ride pretty well, definitely not as stiff on the street as the rallycross Miata. I put on my snow tires and hardtop the other day. It has black leather seats, I would like to swap in my spare cloth seats but I will have to get some seatbelt receivers that bolt to the trans tunnel instead of the seat.

Dood. Hearty approval. Your snow tires are holding up surprisingly well. I need to get over your way soon.

These are the same ones you gave me to kill a few years ago...they last awhile when I never drive the car.

After selling parts I had about $400 into the GTI so I'm happy with the trade.

I have been wanting to try this vinyl eraser tool on something so I figured I would take off the old sun-baked stripes.

Turns out it doesn't work so well on vinyl in bad shape. It did great on the stipes on the rear bumper which were still in decent condition but the rest of it just smeared around so I gave up.

The car wash took some of the pigment off of the hood stripes.

The worst of the rust.

It's not a Miata, it's a Eunos Roadster! I was excited that I got assigned a "Group B" license plate. Also stuck on an ORI sticker (thanks Mazduece!).

Very fortuitous that you painted your hardtop white

I have a feeling that hitting the stripes with penetrating oil (from you know who) will have them coming right off, or at least make them less enthusastic about staying stuck. The aromatics/light ends in the oil will re-liquefy the adhesive. Works great on sunbaked duct tape, too.

The Miata is still alive, I even did enough events so far this year to renew my Mazda Motorsports membership. This past weekend was the Great Lakes divisional championship. I have replaced one control arm worth of the rear bushings but the rest are still shot. It isn't quite as bad as it was but still squirrely. I'm going to attempt to replace the rest before the event in Frostburg in a couple weeks.

Both of the trophies should have been second place but they got one mixed up and put first place on it.

That's the plan. I hope to get it mostly competitive to trophy. Doubtful I could pull off another win.

John W England took first. He is usually (always) faster than me in his stock Miata.

Interesting. He came for one of our events last year and took 4th in PR (behind the eventual 1-2-3 local class winners) and would have been 5th in MR had he bumped up. Don't recall if he was running gravels or snow tires though. Looks like he got a TON of cones at that event. Frostburg will do that to you, lol. Wonder why he's running MR nationally if his Miata is stock...

btw, your car should have a bigger advantage at frostburg. We almost always have "power" courses that favor high-hp cars. One of the reasons I'm starting to get beaten there as more 6cy e30s and turbo volvos show up, lol.

He's crazy-smooth. Watching him go through the hairpin over crest was art.

I sold them a couple sets of 460cc injectors... dunno what they want them for. Interestingly I think every Miata at the GLDiv was supercharged except for Evan's and the Englands'.

They have a supercharger to install once they source a few more parts. The interior is stripped now so he is running MR.

Gonna be fun at Easterns. I'm going to try to win of course, but my car is getting a bit heavy to be as good at rallycross as it was previously, lol. And my driving seems to be getting worse rather than better haha.... Also going to use my old tires and save my new ones for stage (rather hit cones than trees!).

He was on snows when he came out to frostburg. Frostburg chewed up those snow tires pretty good.

Do you recall which Miata he was in? One stands out in my memory, but I think it ran a turbo.

In the runs I saw you looked pretty smooth too.

He is the darker red w/black hardtop (#87/187), the other red w/ black hardtop (#9something) is Jon Armstrong, supercharged.
