Off topic here, have you tried the powdered bentonite clay 325 mesh in your green sand yet? (2-8-20 YT stream). Google search says acquire that clay from a pottery/ ceramic supplier.
I was thinking of using sandblast sand vs common play sand and screening it yet further. Ideas?

I haven't tried the greensand yet, no. I got more bentonite (I use it in my clay mix too) but havent tried it. With no muller it will be kind of a pain getting it all mixed. I thinking of doing either small amounts in bags and just mash it with my hands, or large batches on the ground with tarps and me walking on it to act as the muller.
I got the bentonite at a pottery supply place in milwaukee, yes. Any pottery supply place selling materials should have powdered bentonite. It's in pretty much all clay and glaze mixes. You can get it online at the big ceramic store site, sold as laguna brand I think. Laguna is a major pottery supplier, they have other stuff that may be good for green sand, I havent looked into it.
current shot of the jeep, in "winter storage". Read:shoved under another project car

What size is the sandblast stuff? Grain size is important, but finer isnt always better. The sand needs to breathe, and finer sand can restrict that, also it needs enough "tooth" to hold itself together, and finer sand often fails at that. One thing people do is mix coarser sand with finer sand, or use a "facing sand". Basically really fine stuff up against the mold, and the normal stuff filling the rest of the flask. Olfoundryman does this, and his castings look fantastic (because of his sand and also everything else, he knows his stuff).
