I think Googling "Phonis" will get you the hole drilling method.

No real progress on the car today. Just some post work research and measuring.

I have hit a bit of a dilemma in regards to the suspension. I just cant choose what to do and there is no clear solution that has brought clarity. Everything else in regards to what to buy to improve the car is sorted except the extremely important suspension.

There are really 3 options that I am wrestling with.

Option 1: Purchase the Ksport Kontrol Pros that i have a line on. They are know to be crappy and blow But for $250 do i risk it?

Option 2: Just run stock struts and the DD and light track use proven Tein SS lowering springs for $150

Option 3: Build some type of concoction with modified struts and Ebay sleeves with Eibach Springs... Who Knows the $$

I would really love some input from some Challenge Vets. Thoughts, Comments, Concerns, Interpretive dance? Anyone?

Option 4...sort out engine, transmission, clutch, brakes and make it is sound in its stock form..autoX it to see if anything breaks in driveline. Upgrade tores. THEN tackle suspension upgrades.

Would be no fun to throw a bunch of shiny suspension bits on it only to have the transmission or engine explode. Ymmv

Very wise. Car is running and driving well. Just need to get the track tires mounted. The current tires are dry rotted. But I agree getting it on the track as is will be important.

Update:

I thought that i was going to get stuck with the crappy 15x6 p11 g20 wheels based on budget. The offset and bolt patter for this cars create a very limited amount of Used OEM options that one may find at a U-pull It type of place or craigslist. However today on my daily ebay notification i found 3 brand new 15x7 wheels in the correct bolt patter and offset for $44 shipped! I was bummed that there were only three but i was able to find that exact same wheel in a different color for 100 shipped. $ brand new wheels for $230 and they even look somewhat similar to the BTCC Wheels some of the g20s sported in the early days.

Throw some paint on them so they match and we are good to go! They aren't my Kosei K1s like on my b13 in regards to weight but they will do wonderfully none the less.

Current build total: $572 and we could go AutoX tomorrow if we wanted to!

Update:

There is a guy selling a really clean and G20 with all the suspension modifications i want and need plus a turbo setup and all the electronics. He will sell it to me for $600 (motor is blown) . Im trying to talk him into selling it to me an then shipping me all the parts I want and he can keep the rest since im in FL and no interest in going all the way up there and towing a car back. We will see what happens. This could be a game changer. FINGERS CROSSED

Looks like the parts are a bit north from the pics. How far? GRM'ers have daisy chained some parts over pretty big distances before-might be worth asking.

If there is anyone that lives in or around NY and wants to pick up the car they can HAVE it. You could Probably make at least $500 off the left overs.

If it runs enough to get onto a trailer, I'll bet $450 will get it shipped right to your door via Uship.

If this is the car you will use in the Challenge then you do not have to budget the shipping costs.

No this will be the parts car. It has tons of rust. I have never used Uship before. The Uship quote looks like this:

I know i can sell the head for at least $450 and that would cover the shipping

Uship works 3 ways...

1) Price quote: this will come back at about $623. This is for people who just want it done and price is not a big factor. Once you accept the bid you will then have to wait for the driver to pick up the car

2) Reverse auction: this will start $899. After about 5 days of getting in lower bids it will end somewhere around $500. So, for a week, drivers will wonder if they will have your car or not and then once you agree to a driver then you will have to wait for them to pick it up.

3) Name your price: this is my favorite and drivers I have spoke with also say this is their favorite also. I try to price at around 45 cents to 50 cents per mile. Since yours is in Uniondale, NY to Gainesville, FL that is roughly 1,032 miles. At 45 cents that is $464. At 50 cents that is $516. Or, $500 even is .48 cents.
List that the car is ready to go anytime between now and 2 weeks and once picked up can be delivered any day up to two weeks later. This shows both immediacy and flexibility. What you are likely to get is a driver going after the immediacy. He will be planning a couple of days out and realize that he has room for one more car and he will likely jump on your "sure thing" offer rather than try bidding on a different load that he may or may not get.

I have shipped in 4 cars from southern locations to my northern home this way and it has worked great every time. With name-your-own pricing I had one driver agree to the trip within less than 1 hour of me posting it and I had another trip chosen within 24 hours of posting it.

EDIT: Oh, yeah. When you do a name your own price such as $500 you will then be hit with a 7% booking fee when a driver accepts it so factor this into your price.
A price of $465 will end at $500 once the 7% is added to your price.

EDIT 2: When you set the trip, you will put down a credit card. When a driver accepts the trip the credit card will be hit for the price and you will get a confirmation number. When your car arrives you can either give the driver the confirmation number or you can hit "arrival confirmed" on your computer or phone. Once this is done, the driver is electronically paid via Uship and Uship keeps about 15% of what the driver would be paid. That 15% is what the driver is paying the website for finding him work as well as handling and assuring the financial transaction. Said another way, the driver pays a 15% brokerage fee.

Ok budet question:

If I buy two cars can i sell parts off of both cars to recoup costs up to half the GRM amount?

In other words. Car one: $300 + Car two: $600 = $900. Does this mean I can I sell $900 worth in parts to recoup costs?

Man...those wheels look juuuust right for a P10. But, that intercooler is HUUUGE. IS there a bumper that comes with, or are you going to hack up the one you already have?

You can sell up to $300 from car one and up to $600 from car two but you can trade anything left over from either.

In reply to 4cylndrfury:

Yeah the wheels are really nice and super rare. I'd love to keep them but I plan to sell them since they are JDM Work wheels and 16x7 which is not what I want. They will bring anywhere between 800-1000 depending on the condition when they arrive. Intercooler is way too big. I will be getting rid of that. Im selling TONs of stuff off of the car. I will be able to recoup all $900 that I have spent on the two g20's and have plenty of extra money that of course wont be able to be allocated to the budget but will help me with over all cost on my end. The car is complete with all panels so ill have extra body pieces to either sell or use in the event I need them. He is throwing in loads of extra parts including an extra transmission. Cant wait to get my hands on it.
