243 heads are at Advanced Induction getting a 232cc CNC porting. Also snagged some Holley motor mounts and swap oil pan. Its a pricey pan; more than double the cost of a stock pan, but $200 saves me the need to cut the crossmember.

Did a conservative dyno sim with a 234/240-113 cam. I can be happy with 500+ hp.

Slowly progressing (bad back issues). Got the heads back from Advanced Induction. Super quality work. I darn near got a hard hootus just holding them. Stabbed in the cam (234/240-113 .626) and bolted the heads on to check piston-to-valve clearance. I was skeptical with flat tops, shaved heads, and big cam, but I had more than .170" clearance on both valves. ARP head studs went in and torqued them down. I also did a little measuring for pushrods. LS1s don't really have an adjustable valvetrain, so the easiest way to set lifter preload is with shorter pushrods.

I've also discovered that GM let most of these LS engines leave the factory with crazy timing chain slop. I tried a new Cloyes chain but it was as bad as the original. Now I just ordered a Melling single roller with both sprockets and we'll see how that does.
