Its a matter of having anything to say. I thought the idle stuff working was interesting. To me, getting a race engine to idle and come off idle smoothly is interesting but I'm not sure screen shots of me changing tables really is and that is most of the work.
So now that I know hot idle will be 800 and cold idle 1200, and at about 45kPA, I will adjust the fuel and spark axis points to give me control at those specific points and probably +/-100rpm. Also because I need to pull timing to make it idle I'll also set an upper idle MAP axis point at 50 maybe below which I pull timing and maybe rich it a little and above which its normal operation. and may need a few more axis points to make the transitions smooth. I will spend 10-20 hours on this I'd guess and try work through some of the cold start and warmup stuff each startup as well and then that work will continue for...a year if I count all the little tweets.
Kinda boring so a lot of time goes by between having anything very post worthy. I will need to build an air box before any real driving can happen, there is something when I get to it.

Suns out, roads dry so I did another around the block.....holy sh.. this thing is fast. There is a blip to 4k rpm in the middle, that is the burnout that happens when you crack the throttle to 30% while rolling and my 1st gear is basically stock 2nd with the new drop gears setup. It just frikin goes., the old 600hp supercharged engine had NOTHING on this setup. I think there is video but on the gopro so it needs to be retrieved, post when available.
I marked the burnout on the log, MAP is 57.8kPa so there is a tad more hp left in it
...and this is WITH a DOA #10 cyl? Or did I mis-read earlier. This thing is just fantastic.

no, no...10 is fine! Its #12 that's dead

Congrats!
Is the shifter giving you fits? Looks as though it took a bit of effort for the gear changes.

Yes. Its a gated shifter but I'm not sure where the gate is, I haven't needed it for 15 years and don't recall what box its in...so I'm guessing where the gears might be

Wow sounds nasty at full chat. Have to get you a shift gate for Xmas.
Just use fourth gear for standing starts and make one shift. The first three gears seem irrelevant.
Holy Crap, that's awesome!!!
Has it given you any renewed motivation now that you have gotton some seat time in it? I know that's always a great kick in the butt to get it buttoned up when you can feel the potential.
Awesome to see/hear it running down the road!

And that's very literally not even the 1/2 of it
Now you see why I was so happy with the idling the other day and the rest of the drive where it just pulls out of the garage and drives, neither of which are in its nature. All the little things.

LOL, yes.
With the old supercharged V8 I would only use 1st for rolling around parking lots and hot starts were done in 2nd and at 60 a drop to 3rd and clutch dump would get it spinning again on the highway. With this setup I changed the drop gear setup's ratio to make new 1st gear about the old 2nd to tame it a bit....and the wheel spin is still worse than before....with 1 cylinder dead
I have the ECU setup to read wheel speeds and have roughed out some ideas to for traction and launch control probably best to get those working.

I will say I was in no way mentally prepared for what 800hp or 300ft-lbs of torque at frikin idle actually means...I've never driven anything like this.
Looking forward, I asked Santa to bring me a garage door opener because I think I qualify now....but yeah there is still a long list of stuff that is unfinished and deferred maintenance items. Another year or 2 probably if I'm being honest with myself so yes a drive helps with motivation but it also forces me to look beyond the immediate crisis stuff I've been focused on for so long now.

so 12 still tests no compression but interestingly the plug has gone from white to black similar to the rest (its pretty rich) and the sound has changed...it made no or very little sound before during the compression test and now I can hear no difference between 12 and any other. I think its sealant and I should run it more

what is the map reading for cylinder 12
In reply to mke :
I tried searching the thread for the post about your wheel supplier, but don't seem to be getting anywhere. Would you mind sharing?

it kind of depends on TPS.... at good vacuum its very clearly higher than everything else but there is always the question of is something wrong with the linkage. In general thought its not pulling the vacuum the other cylinders are.
