Oh yes! This is my kind of built. While I am not really a fuel mileage guy, I would rather keep count of how many times people stared and said "What the (expletive) is that?" Loving this idea! 2 Thumbs Up!

My truck gets 16mpg average and a 60 mile round trip commute makes me interested in mpg.
I blew the budget out this weekend...
$30 on wood for the bed floor
$7.68 for door hinges
$200 for an F100 bed and 53 chevy hood
Here are the results so far:
This is about the only way you could get me back into a miata.
Sort of literally, I don't fit in one of those damn things.
Very cool.

I think the cab needs to move forward about 3" or whatever it takes to center the front wheel in the arc in the hood. However, since the bed has already been cut to center the rear wheel, it might be a moot point.
Regardless, love the whole project. Would like to see some interior shots of how the miata dash fits in the truck firewall and a-post area

The cab is in the only possible place. I too wish the front end was shorter. We had to put in a location that accommodates 6 foot tall drivers. The seat is a click forward with a not so relaxed lumbar.
I am not using a Miata dash, that truck dash is intact.
The bed fenders are not done. A section is going to be added to the front to create the whole wheel arch. There is also more cutting in the future to bring the nose of the hood down a little more.
I want some 4x100 to 5x120 adapters so I can run sweet old school wheels but I am cheap and cheap spacer adapters seem like a bad idea.
Honestly, this just proves you need to find a cab that has not been hacked. Got to be someone who realized their E36 M3 is too rusted out to keep on craigslist...
"Dash" might have been the wrong choice of words, what I was interested in was how the truck and Miata interface at their respective firewalls, so "Dash Areas"? Trying to get an idea of the ergonomics of the project.
Assuming the truck sightline is going to make you sit higher up, what are you doing to bring the Miata steering wheel up to the proper height? The Miata has a crossbar right above the steering shaft.
How much if any of the Miata HVAC are you using? Wipers? Assuming Miata wiring and controls, or are you going aftermarket hot-rod wiring?
I know, I ask a lot of questions,, who knows, I might even want to do something like this someday
The body is channeled so low over the Miata chassis that line of sight is great with stock Miata seats. 4 Inches were cut out of the rockers to get it low enough on the Miata.
The wiper and blinker controls on the column had to go. The truck dash sits right on top of the steering shaft.
The Miata had a lot of wiring issues due to previous wannabe race owners. Tail lights, HVAC and radiator fan wiring were all in shambles.
All of the HVAC parts are gone and I'm not planning to put them back in. Feasibly they probably would fit but I am not interested.
I will get some interior shots this weekend.
This is coming together great. I can see your vision and understand what you're planning with the front fenders. I love this.

Sounds good, I'm digging the progress so far. Will the plans for the front end mods allow for some moving/massaging of the front wheel arches?

The front end will not be getting any fenders. The hood is so low (and going a little lower) that I gave up trying to do front fenders.
Why is the wood floor up so high? I know there is a Miata fuel tank under there somewhere, but hot THAT high up.
