So.... being as that I have a work car and put very low miles on my personal vehicles it allows me to push aside many of the burdens of selecting a daily driver such as MPG, comfort, noise level and general sound decision making.
So I bought a V8 Ford Raptor with a Whipple
Being that I was in the market for a new "around town" rig I figured it best to check off the boxes that one would generally need for such a vehicle such as the ability to rolling burnouts I decided building another pickup was the move.
I always liked Raptors and genuinely think the 2nd generation looks the best but the small issue of them being Ecoboost and sounding like a bag of smashed shiny happy people means that's a nope from me and considering I could buy 5 cars I don't need for the price of a new Raptor R I set my sights on a first Gen with a 6.2.
The Marketplace algorithm graced me with this gem only 45 minutes away from home at the kind of shady dealership that makes you wonder if it's stolen or not, so extra points for that. It has a clean, 2 owner, dealer serviced and accident free Carfax and crawling around it inside and out I don't actually think it was rolled multiple times and fixed in someone's backyard but for what I paid.... probably.
To be fair, I think it's original owner loved this thing and dumped a pile of money into it. Judging by the "patina" on all the modifications they were done by the original owner and the second owner, although they did continue to have it serviced at Ford, just put gas in it and drove. I think it had some wild suspension on it that was stripped off before the truck was sold judging by that lack of fasteners in some of the parts related to such an event.
In any case, it has the key items big ticket items I would want to do and it needs enough love that I will lovingly fondle all its pieces parts to make it my own.
I did a Mishimoto trans cooler and radiator being as that the stock one blew on the way home (read shady dealer comment) and cut off the exhaust contraption and started making a new one.
And I installed Morimoto LED headlights because the drivers side had issues (read shady dealer comment)
Several things left on the to do list to address but the general menu of items include new timing chain and guides and "since i'm in there" bigger cams and valve springs along with rocker bridge braces, billet oil pump gears and all new front accessory drive components. I'm also planning on adding an Interchiller and meth.... because daily driver.
Let's do the thing
