Based upon the bonkers money thses seem to be going for, that's cheap! There are plenty of rust repair panels for them now, too

Probably not for $500 but I'd be tempted if it was anywhere near me and those parts are goodish.

Yeah, mine isn't a whole lot better, but then I wouldn't cut up a good car to make a hot rod, hence my rusty SPi shell will become my hot rod.......rather than a good Mk1
Those wheels are Revolutions. A set is definitely worth more than $500.
If it is in fact a real Cooper, then what you see is a bargain. All I see is a serial number donor if in fact it is a "Cooper".
Did the Cooper not have fuel tanks and fillers on both sides of the car?
