You're looking at amazing. And a half million dollar car, more than likely.
Tatra Type 77 - Type 87
Nazi told the the Troops not to ride in them because so many rolled over ,
they were made thru the war and replaced by the 4 cylinder Tatraplan ,
Pretty rare car , they were cheap in Czech in the 1990s ,
I would love to have it ! LS1 transplant ?
Lots of salesman BS in the ad , but probably less than 100 of them now ,
We had a Tatra meeting at the Book store in Burbank last year........and yes Leno showed up......

I believe a lot more than 5 were made. V8 in the tail and air cooled if I recall?
Chart of the 5 that have sold on BAT. One outlier at 137 or so but the rest average under 30k.
Not Challenge priced, but a lot of unique for the money.
EDIT
Poked around at the BAT auctions and the only one with the fin on the back and the same fugly front window is the outlier. And it was a 1953, so mayhaps this one does have some value. Looks complete at least.
They do have some value, especially the early (pre-WW2) ones as not that many survived. Pretty advanced car for the time.
I'll have it for the buck in the ad .
You're looking at a whole berkeleyload of want from me but I already have enough obscure cars
Count me as happy there isn't a price in the ad.
talked to him , wants "6 figures"
And Leno already has one..........
Maybe if it ran it would be worth more. I see a lot of rust and parts needed that are unobtainium.
Not worth 6 figures even if Leno needs a parts car.

I think the only way he'll get six figures for that is if one agrees a price in Zimbabwe dollars.

Or if he can verify some interesting History , I am not sure if the Tatra archives have the info on who originally ordered the car etc , if the Germans ran the factory at the time it was built there would be records ,
Its a cool car , but its not a big PreWar Mercedes , and these do not bring big bucks considering the cost of restoration.
Prove it was German Field Marshall Rommels and you really have something !

i heard my Wartburg may have been owned by Yuri Gagarin at some point. Not really but i can say E36 M3 like that if i say "thought to" and have berkeley all for proof

Rare does not equal desirable.
After seeing a couple of those at the Lane Motor Museum those are very high on my Lotto car list, so cool.
In reply to ShawnG :
They're probably more desirable in Europe than they are over here.

There was speculation in the Vanden Plas club that my Austin Princess Vanden Plas limo was probably ridden in by Winston Churchill. The guy who bought it and restored it embellished that to advertise it as being previously owned by Winston Churchill. The local newspaper interviewed him and challenged him on his claim (and pretty well disproved this). BTW, he told me that he had turned down a 6-figure offer from a museum (not that he had any credibility).

Is this the zenith of "ran when parked"?
Tatras are hot right now. Most collectors I know are looking for the right one to add to their hoards but I think the Rommel connection, if real would actually be a pretty big turn off for them.
In reply to Trent (Generally supportive dude) :
Which is precisely why I think it's stupid that Dr. Porsche's car is still floating around for sale, stinking up the place everywhere it goes.

$1000.00 is six figures. The seller knows who maybe used to own it, but at the same time doesn't perceive the difference between a car and truck.
In reply to Trent (Generally supportive dude) :
yeah I'd really not want any nazi owned vehicles. We have a couple ww2 bits from family that fought and they creep me the berkeley out
