I'm a bit confused about the new nose on your project 2002... I've reread the article and checked it out here on the web. Seems like you were able to source some panels from Bavarian Autosport, and others direct from BMW. The article mentions that the nose is a "fresh" panel, but never states explicitly where it came from. I can't find any indication at bmw-classic, bavauto, or Walloth und Nesch that early noses are available again...
Are my hopes up for nothing?

That was new metal from BMW classic...you can find the part number on realoem.com, I went that route after I realized the used panel was rusty too.

You are the bearers of awesome tidings! I've been frustrated for years about the availability of only late noses, and looking at the two noses I have right now, nine hundred something dollars for a perfect replacement is sounding awfully reasonable...
