I've got a 911 3.2 and yes, the maintenance is a little expensive. That said, they do make feasible daily drivers because they don't like standing around much and actually cost less to use than having it as an ornament and then have to fix the issues they develop from standing around.

I have had 13 different 911 cars, everything from a 1969 911S up to a RS America and literally everything in between and all made great daily drivers with the best of them being a '73 1/2 T, a '82 SC and my '84 Carrera that David now owns.

I honestly feel that a 911 from any era makes a terrific classic daily driver, possibly the best classic daily driver classic sports cars built.

Interesting reading! I believe a daily driver should be just that. For a true DD you need a car you can climb into and enjoy without fear of the costs of repair, shortage of parts, or being stranded on the highway. It also doesn't hurt if it is also weatherproof enough to go through the car wash!

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the vehicle that got the masses back into sports cars in the first place! The DATSUN 240Z even today is fun to drive, weatherproof, comfortable, & there are tons of spares plus it is easy and reasonable to work on.

I also should stress, one of the big things the Z had going for it in the first place is that even with minimal care they always start, don't leak fluids, the headlights & electrics work. Plus, the big kicker is the car gets you home! I think that is a very important consideration for any DD.
