Is the heater always on?  Shouldn't it have a little spigot thing in the engine to turn off the heater flow?

I know someone who has a number of these, and the old ones have those.

It's nice to see an MGB that doesn't have hacked up wiring in the engine bay.

It is there. Right over the distributor so that when it leaks you become aware due to a stalled engine.
