How do you view your cars once they’re no longer in your care? Do you proudly watch them spread their wings to enjoy a new life, or do you immediately turn your attention to whatever’s next?

With us, we admit, it depends.

However, we do regularly see one car that has left the roost: …

My white CRX became a drag car–flared, full wire tuck, all very nicely done. Fast. I’d see updates online through the last years.

Last I recall, it was for sale as a roller. Turning it back to a street car would be a bit of work, though.

I am sad to say that I had only one car survive me. A 1972 Super Sport Camaro.

And I lost track of it years ago.

Just thinking some more, I believe two of my cars have made it to SCCA Solo Nats. I know one for sure (STS Civic Si) and pretty sure on the other (also a Civic Si). Not sure where those cars are now.

My TVR race car is racing in England now (after a time on the continent with the Dutch chap I sold it to). My Jensen Interceptor convertible is on the US east coast and I am still in touch with the owner.  My hotted up TR3 is still owned by the friend I sold it to, my Jensen CV8 is on the East coast of the US undergoing its second restoration, my MGC is owned by another friend and my turbo Fiero GT is still local. My Swallow Doretti is in the US, totally restored and a concours winner.  Wish I knew where some of the others landed....

The '73 914 2.0 I bought new in Oct. '72, and kept for 34 years is now with 3rd owner, a small collector who drives it, still in VA. Spoke to him earlier this week. Surprise 50th birthday '82 911 from my wife, also in VA with 3rd owner in large collection/museum. Firehawk 944 back with the friend who did the prep and maintainence for a share of the driving. Lives in VA and doing some HSR racing. Our son owns the '98 Boxster, lives in KY and thinking of selling. Our daughter owns the '13 Boxster which she and her son AX regularly in FL.  No idea where many others may be.

These are the two I care about, most once they are gone I'm moving on. The Rabbit changed hands once and is still sitting in the shop where it came to rest. The AMG has a long story but it showed up on Instagram a few years ago so it's still out there.

We almost had a reuited moment this weekend.

I bought my M3 from a friend who used to live here in Florida but is now out of state.

He was down this weekend, and a bunch of us got together. The original plan was to drive across the state in the M3, but something just didn’t feel right in the steering. Tie rod? Something else? We were at the buzzer, so I took the 911. He’s been keeping tabs on the M3 via the web and has seen the work performed.

Next time he’s down, though, we’ll get him back in his old car. I’d love for him to see/experience it.

I often wonder what happened to my Tropical Orange MK4 GTI with a VR6 beacause I regret selling that car.

Even though my last car got totaled after getting into a fight with a tree and losing, I'd like to think that at least some of its parts made it out of the scrap yard and into some other cars–maybe even some low-buck race cars, even.

In reply to Colin Wood :

We’ve run into cars we know at the you-pull-it. Hopefully the parts help another one live on.

Mostly no, unless sold to friends or family.

I still occasionally see our 2004 TSX, sold to a friend in 2017.  It's soldiering on; almost 20 years old at this point.  I wonder how the nav system is holding up.

I used to see the Battle Bus, our 2000 Grand Caravan, sold to my nephew in 2015 as a total buyback with mild rear end damage.  He replaced the hatch and the damaged seats, and he and his wife drove it another 100,000 miles on all kinds of softroad camping adventures. Not sure if they still have it or not - he doesn't keep all his cars at his house.

I wish I knew what became of these two:

1995 Neon ACR sedan - sold in 2006 to a guy who planned to cage it and make a hill climb car.  I would have liked to see that in action.

2003 325i sedan - sold in 2017 to a kid as his first self-owned car.  He and his dad were going to do the usual 120k-mile BMW refresh.  He lived in the general area, but I never saw it again.  I liked that car.
