Hey Folks,
I have a question for the auto trans guys.
I have installed the cooler lines to my 4l60E (hybrid lines that are stock GM at the connection but have had AN fitting brazed on; with soft lines running to the trans cooler on the radiator), but I didn't know I was supposed to use new clips on the connectors -- I reused mine.
The LS1 E34 BMW Touring is almost buttoned up, but I am afraid I will have a trans fluid leak if I don't redo these. To me the lines seem loose, and I can't picture how they will seal well.
Anyone have any knowledge on these connectors? Should remove the whole fitting, and put some thread seal on the threads (which I don't remember if I did) and get new clips? I think I want to address the potential problem be I put trans fluid in, have a leak and make a mess -- then have to the do the work anyway.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Are you talking the quick connectors with the "E"-clip? If you are, they all fit like crap to some degree.

Exactly those. But, the pipe seems to be loose even though the e-clip and the plastic circular thing are all installed properly. Is it normal for tubes to feel loose? How do these things actually seal?
yes. there is an o-ring in there. i took lines off a high mile astro and clipped them into my ls swapped impala ss. no leaks, and they are nice and wiggly

Thanks. I think I will find out if they leak or not the old fashion way
The only time I've had those leak were when I used new ones instead of reusing the old ones, when changing a radiator.
The only time I replace them anymore is if the trans line is so rusty that it won't come out, so the only way to get the radiator or trans out is to cut the line.

Yeah, most likely it will not leak. If it does, it will be because of the o-ring in the fitting, not the reused clips.
