Like a BOSS! Porsche 924 Carrera GTP

The street version:

http://www.356-911.com/post1974/modernspottersguide/porsche924cgt.htm

or the GTS:

http://www.356-911.com/post1974/modernspottersguide/porsche924cgts.htm

Or the 924 Carrera GTR:

http://www.356-911.com/post1974/modernspottersguide/porsche924cgtr.htm

All of them led directly to the improvements used on the 944 and 944 turbo. Most of the bits from the 944 back-date to the 924, so you can have a relatively cheap Porsche that you can build and work on yourself.

I had a 1989 Chrysler Conquest. Pulled out the 2.6L and swapped in a 351-W.

I also owned a 1988 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. That was fun after I swapped in the T3 turbo from an SVO.

Both are cool cars, but there is limited aftermarket availability for them. I'd stick to something with a nice following. I'm more of the, "unusual car" kinda guy, but that gets expensive when you have to get everything custom made.

Not the prettiest example (spray painted front end and not lowered evenly yet) but here's my friend's new yorker (that i gave him).. Its had quite a bit done to it by now (i think its up to like $1000 total in this thing! ) but its a 2.5 turbo. Some people have made 280 lb ft (to the wheels) on 12psi.. i made 320lb ft to the wheels @16psi in another 2.5 car i own. The car itself weighs ~2900.

If you want to go fast in a straight line while enjoying 80's style, there arent many cheaper ways.

I like how Chrysler used to advertise everything back then with 0-50mph times.

Oh, and I LOVE the TTA's. yes, even the 301-powered ones. Call me silly, but I think the Turbo hood on the80-81's looks a lot better than the shaker does.

Yep, they were insanely quick. They were also complete E36 M3. Think of a Coors light can on wheels with an early iteration of the Mitsubishi turbo 4 that grew into the 4G63.

The 0-60 time was closer to 6.9 seconds.

The Camaro Z28 H.O. in 1983 did it in 6.7

The 84 Corvette did it in 6.7

The 84 Charger Shelby did it in 10.0

The 86 GLH-S did it in 6.5

83 Ferrari 308 4-valve? 6.8

84 Mustang SVO? 7.9

85 Mustang GT? 6.4

84 Esprit Turbo? 6.6

Driven one. Not a huge fan.

Drive mine. Instant fan.

I hate most of nissan's stock or stockish suspension. Mine has eibach springs, koni rears, and supposedly tokico illumina fronts, but thats 50/50. I don't really like it either, but its way better then stock. I'm adapting coil overs to it soon.

Its an 88 turbo, so it has the stronger trans, Clutch type LSD, biggest brakes, and of course 5 lug. It has the 84 ecu/motor/turbo so it has the bigger t3, and some one put a fmic and MBC on it. At 9PSI its fun all day every day. Should be making 230whp, and 260ft-lbs of torque.

Yes it has starion wheels. Best of the 80's right there! Weight should be in the 3000lb range. Not exactly sure, but I was going to throw it on some corner weighting scales just to see the total weight soon.

My next upgrade is Nistune and the 450cc injectors, injectors came with the car. It'll do right at 300whp and 350wtq at 18psi. I'm putting a VGT holset on it and turning up the boost. muhahahaha.

OH and it TURNS. That short V6, and F/R chassis is a great combo There isn't much weight in front of the strut towers. Ive had a RB20 (I6) swapped 240sx, and its tons better. Drove my friends mk3 supra (how any one thinks its not durable or easy to work on is on crack), its nice but the Z turns better.

It came with kumho v700s as well. I dismounted to save them for autoxing. hehehe.

Oh and I stole it for $1000. I may take it to the challenge.
