We've been seeing too many stories about tracks getting shut down or threatened.
In Lorain Co, Ohio, they are turning a landfill site into a karting complex.

First off, awesome.
Second off, as a Michigan resident with a son who does kart racing, I'm still a bit perplexed that the only kart racing track in Michigan is in East Lansing (okay technically there's a small track in the U.P.). Nothing against East Lansing, but with the plethora of automotive related manufacturing/engineering/etc. I would think there would be an appetite for another newer/larger track (many of the attendants drive in from the Detroit region or west Michigan).
There's multiple large facilities across the Illinois/Indiana/Ohio regions (Newcastle, Whiteland, G&J, Mid-State, MCC, Gateway, etc.) so this adds one more to the mix. This looks to be a pretty serious effort with the money involved.
There's also a new kart track being opened SE of Cleveland at Quaker Motorsports Park. They're hosting a Stars series race, and a Cup Karts North America (CKNA) East division race in 2025 as well.
That's just a couple miles from my Aunt's house. I've driven by the land that they are talking about many times. It's the perfect spot for it.
Unfortunately, Lorain is a dying city. Looking forward to something that will spark the community there. Hopefully they have some rental carts so I can check it out when I'm in town visiting fam.
