$84,500 for a long bed K20.
Have you priced a Pinto lately? Or a Samurai?
Its a crazy world. I sold my '78 C20 for $1500 and felt bad about it. That was in the late 80s
The thought has crossed my mind to sell my '79 C10 SWB but I know I'd never be able to replace it so it's staying right where it is.
The truck has 589 miles on it, that's the key. Super low mileage examples of most any vehicle are going to command a premium, and there were presumably a couple well-heeled collectors bidding on it who really, really wanted it. I don't think it will affect the values of typical 1985 Chevy trucks.
Yep. 589 miles. Beat to death ones with over 250,000 miles are still available and all over the country or coming to a wrecking yard near you.
Yeah at 589 miles you're not buying a vehicle you are basically paying 40 years of storage fees and small retainer.

I see the ad originates from Erie, PA. Not a place I think of when I hear "rust free". More like the epicenter of the rust belt, squarely placed between Cleveland and Buffalo!

Tell me about it. Started browsing the normal places for a Samurai after watching the Top Gear rainforest special. Holy carp, they have become expensive!
New 3/4 ton Chevys and Fords can be that much. I would take one of those over this every day and twice on Sunday.
I don't care if this was brand new with 0 miles. It ain't worth that much.

I rented a Jimney in the Caribbean last year, and it suuuuuuucked at everything except going off road, which it was great at, of course. Why everyone loves these little 4wd underpowered crapcans is beyond me.

Can confirm. When I lived in Erie our old cars would go to Ohio for their second life once they couldnt pass inspection anymore.

People are so sick of big and long from today's trucks that it pushed them all the way over to the other side of the gauge.
There is absolutely no reason a truck like that should have 589 miles on it.
Whoever had it might have wished they could trade $82000 for something else, like free time, or ambulation, or to be alive again.

This 1985 Chevrolet K20 Scottsdale is a 3/4-ton 4×4 Fleetside pickup that was ordered to the specifications of its original owner, who reportedly fell ill and passed away shortly after taking delivery.

Exactly why it is so rare and expensive. The chances of a utilitarian vehicle like that not being used up is infinitesimal. A Corvette or Ferrari, not so much.
To me that truck is worthless. You can't drive it or it's value will go down. 100k+ miles for me! Nobody cares!
