Depends a lot on the car... my Mazda would lift linkage blades over 75. Flat blades are good for over 90.
So I'm told.
All my other recent cars have had spoilers on the wiper arm so liftoff isn't a problem. Euro cars tend to be cool like that. I haven't TRIED to go 130 in a rainstorm in my Volvo, but I can rest assured that if for whatever reason I find myself in that situation, the wipers will stay on the windshield.
Anyone here remember the olden days (early 90's) with the "triple-edge" wipers? Talk about crap!!
And then the hinged wipers covered in a rubber condom/booty to keep out the snow and ice. Garbage.

They weren't great, but they were better than the bare hinged blade getting all iced up. At least with the rubber covered one you could snap it back against the glass while driving and have a reasonably good chance of the ice coming off.
Having an old GM with the huge metal pin attachment for wipers makes going with beams quite a challenge.
I just use refills now. I had some Peak branded beams once, they were OK but not better or worse than other refills I've used. They were better than the Bosch standard assembly I tried once that didn't even last a season though.
FWIW, the beam-style wipers cost half as much online at RockAuto than they do at NAPA, O'Reilly, etc. Never forget that the big retail chains make their profit on the volume stuff everyone has to buy.

I like the beam blades. Less streaking, better in snow/ice, and they last longer than any of the old style blades I've tried (4 years out of my last set of Bosch Icons).

Is there some sort of magic on the oem honda wiper blades. I bought a set from the an online parts guy when I needed a bunch of parts for my integra and these were easily the best wipers I've used on my car. Only had them for a year, but they aren't noisy and they do their job.
The original oem blades that came with my gti lasted 3 years before I started getting streaks and more noise, the bosch replacement blades I bought seem a lot worse.

Those dual blade wipers are perfect for those sweet single wiper blade conversions. 
Watch Amazon for sales. I think I paid $14/ea for Valeos, and they've lasted longer than any other blade I've tried.
Buy wipers when they go on sale, not when you need them. New blades have a shelf life of about forever.

No idea. They use the same supplier that the OE Hy/Ki cars from Korea use.
